Chapter Thirty-Four

We sat in silence for a while, me on the coffee table, Starch and Arthur on the sofa and Jonas had retreated to a chair. I watched him as he sat, seemingly so far away from me. I wanted to go to him, to put my head on his shoulder and let him comfort me, but I knew he would give me nothing. He had nothing to give me, and though Starch appeared to have gotten over his anger, I knew he still harbored some hatred toward me. I felt like Arthur was the only one who truly loved me and it was nearing time for me to tell the boy the truth.
